“The first time we stayed at Behla we were very happy. The house is beautiful and comfortable, but not too precious for the kids. The perfect beach is right outside your door. The yummy food that was prepared for us everyday was the icing on the cake. This first trip was a highly organized family affair, with lots of activities. Our hosts were very helpful and patient setting all of it up for us.
We loved it so much, we came back again, but without the kids. Yet again, everything was perfect. We cannot wait to visit again!”

Best house in Tulum
“Wow! What a place. We traveled in March 2012 with a group of friends. We spent the night in Playa before venturing down towards Behla. What an amazing and welcomed change of pace from Playa to Tulum. Who knew an hour drive could change so much.
We were welcomed by Renaud and two staff members, Orlando and Rogelio. They carried our bags through the back property which is covered with palm trees and power white sand. We quickly noticed this amazing palaypa bar which was quite the suprise. Who knew how much fun would be had there!!
We entered the house and were in awe of the view. Words cant describe the view, heck even pictures cant do it justice. The place is set up great for a group. Plenty of entertaining space or for finding your own quiet spot to chill.
The house location is PERFECT! It sits on the nicest stretch of beach and many restaurants/bars are within walking distance. In fact one of the best is right across the road from Behla.
The owners and staff are great. We felt at home right away. They took very good care of us and felt like friends quickly. They fired up the wood burning bbq for our steaks, shrimp, and even showed us out to cook a frozen pizza on it. It was fun getting to share a few spanglish stories with them over beer and good food.
Tulum is beautiful. It is rustic enough to feel like you truly get away. IE barely a TV to been seen for miles..but yet still have a very nice supermarket for your daily needs that is only a short taxi ride away.
I have so much more to say but will save that for the next review on our return trip to Behla.
Thank you Renaud and Loree for sharing your piece of paradise with us.”
Amazing house, amazing owner, amazing time
“We rented the larger of the properties, and were blown away – following a stay at ahau Tulum earlier in the week, on my friends arrival we moved to Behla Tulum, and were blown away – every request was catered for, breakfast was fantastic, and the barbecue area was only bettered by the fantastic roof terrace”

“Beautiful house, very tastefully decorated- in minimalist but very comfortable style. Perfect for a family with children. Masterbedroom has a wrap around deck- great view of the beach. Also has a rooftop deck which is great for stargazing. House in located on a beautiful part of the beach and you are literally steps from the turquoise water. Also owner- Renaud very sweet and helpful. Definitely planning on returning.”
Fabulous house, stunning beach, warm welcome, good times…
“We absolutely loved Behla! The house is a beautiful and spacious, casual-chic dream with inescapable views of the stunning beach right outside the door. Five of us stayed at Behla, and we loved having so many glorious spaces to choose from whether we wanted to be together or to have a moment alone. We relaxed on the white sandy beach right outside the door and swam in the warm turquoise waters. When we felt like being inside, we opened the floor to ceiling windows to let the smell and sound and air of the water in. In the evening we headed to the roof for sunset margaritas before we walked down the beach to go to dinner. Many nights, we just stayed in and feasted on delicious, fresh, authentic Mexican meals prepared by the friendly Behla team. When we were in our rooms, it felt as if we were all alone, in our own private spaces, with only the waves crashing outside. In the morning, we would come downstairs and start our day with fresh squeezed juice, fresh cut tropical fruit and fresh eggs how ever we wanted them. The Behla team was fantastic in serving up tasty Mexican specialties as well as helping us arrange all kinds of things like tours of the ruins, in house massage and nearby yoga classes. For us, the Behla experience played a big part in making Tulum feel like the absolute paradise that it is. We’ll be back!”

“My wife and I just spent 8 nights here and it was magical. The beach is great, Renaud is great, the food was fantastic, there are so many wonderful places to eat nearby… can’t say enough. For a very fair price, they have a wonderful cook who will prepare meals for you in the house, which we did on my birthday for both breakfast and dinner… So good!
The house is very comfortable and very spacious… you can open up the doors and windows and enjoy the sea breeze all day long. We were there in June, so there are certainly Mosquitoes at night, but that’s just the deal in that part of the world. Couldn’t ask for a better place to spend our honeymoon. Thanks Renaud!”

Behla, an absolute gem, the perfect vacation spot, I love it!
“I can’t say enough about the Behla beach houses. They are well designed to please all the senses. They are hip, yet incorporate true Mexico. I love how they function so well, with cool, yet simple mechanisms. It’s a perfect mix of basic and beauty. Views, many places to find tranquility to read or nap, steps to the sugary white sand beach to the amazing Caribbean sea. Service is fantastic. One’s room is cleaned daily without ever seeing it done. Daily brunch is amazing, fresh local fruits, Mexican eggs, etc., and made by the lovely and always smiling cook. The owners are so welcoming and accommodating. They are such gracious hosts with the goal of making your vacation just as you want it. It’s close to so many adventures and activities including the fascinating Mayan ruins, although it’s hard to leave the property, since it’s so comfortable and beautiful. It’s the perfect place for both a truly relaxing vacation or a reunion full of celebration. I’ve been twice and plan to go every year.”

This place is so good I don’t actually want people to know about
“This was possibly the best holiday we have every been on. After having a baby we wanted to go somewhere with a really lovely base but was still right in the middle of things- which the villa really is. Set on the beautiful beach of Tulum, I have never felt so safe and welcomed in a foreign land. Mexicans by nature are kind and generous people and the landscape is so beautiful, it’s hard to imagine a more magical place. The Owners of Belha are incredibly kind, lovely and happy to be organise all your extras for you.
The villa was spotless, every day we were full breakfast (enough so you didn’t want lunch!) and if you want you can have all your meals catered for which I would now do (if we went again) . The staff were excellent and at night beautiful flares lit the gardens so if you went out it was easy to find your way home again!
A wonderful holiday. Great for babies as lots of shade but still right on the beach.”

Quiet family time to unwind and reconnect
“I feel compelled to provide this review of this wonderful, magical place – not normally something I would find time to do but it was just great and wanted to express my gratitude for making our trip so memorable.
Where do I begin…my family (husband and 3 teenage girls) planned this trip for March 2011 to celebrate my 50th birthday and my husbands 52nd. We wanted quiet family time to unwind and reconnect. We stumbled onto Behla with a simple Google search and were afraid to get excited until we found out if it was available. An email to Loree was responded to immediately and we locked down our dates. As our plans progressed she was more than happy to answer questions via email or phone and provided insight and guidance as we planned our adventure.
The villa far exceeded our expectations (even better than the pictures we’d seen online) with thoughtful touches all over. Some examples
• A tap in a basin by the deck to wash the sand off your feet.
• It was wonderfully spacious with many places to find a quiet corner to relax – the 5 of us literally lost each other sometimes
• Fully equipped kitchen
• Fresh flowers
• Candles and incense everywhere
• Loads of water
• Fabulous stereo
• Outdoor shower
• Fresh towels in all bathrooms and for the beach
• Loads of chaises to soak up the sun
• Daily cleaning – what a treat!
• Full Bathroom in each bedroom and one downstairs
• Exquisite quiet – only sound to be heard was the waves crashing on the beach
• The list could go on and on…
Tomas and Orlando, the onsite staff, looked after our every whim and were a constant presence, always ready and willing to help (for example the toaster stopped working one morning and before the afternoon was out, another one had been put in its place). That said they were never intrusive or omnipresent. We thoroughly enjoyed our visits with Loree and Renaud and they both provided invaluable “local” advice – and better yet what not to do. Our visit to the Tulum Ruins is a great example. Renaud suggested we take the back road in and go early. We spent a lovely hour or so and as we wandered back to our car (parked for free) we watched in amazement as the sea of people began to arrive from the other roadway. He suggested a stop at Mariachi beach on our way back and it was one of the highlights of the trip. Lovely beach and fabulous restaurant awaited us. Without his insight the experience wouldn’t have been the same. I would also recommend the Sian Ka’an snorkel/float tour all arranged by Loree — a unique adventure off the usual tourist beaten path. Punta Laguna recommendation also provided a true “Mexican” experience – unique, relaxed and fun.
All in all, we achieved our goal – a fantastic family holiday! Loree and Renaud have a unique ability to extend their home to others and enable them to feel like they are “at home”. The only thing left to do is to figure out how to get back there!”

Couldn’t Wish For More
“This is the quintessential beach paradise. The house (which is a bit tricky to find in the dark by the way) delivered on every level. It is spotlessly clean, beautifully designed and well equipped for home cooked breakfasts and simple meals. The situation right on the beach is divine. The staff are discreet and available 24/7 for the smallest requests. Infact the owner Renaud actually encouraged us to ask his staff for any and all requests/chores regarding the house. The one thing you really need to know when you arrive is that the in-house catering is 5 star. We only splurged on this luxury on the last night and wished we had taken advantage of this service much much earlier in our stay. It is really good value and well worth it. Plenty to see and do and eat nearly. The owners and a pleasure and visited every day with suggestions of what to do and see. You absolutely have to do the river boat/float trip – with aldo – just a magical day. The one thing that is a bit unreliable is the internet – it was spotty – and if you want to get bang up reception you have to sit under a palm tree between the houses. I am sure they will figure it out soon tho. Also most properties on this beach road have semi salty shower water that takes a bit of getting used to. Altogether a great time and a memorable relaxing break from the fray.”

The perfect beach house on the perfect beach
“So many great things to say about our stay. I have rented this house 2x and have been trying to get freinds to arrange schedules so that Iwe can return soon. Everything is beautiful and easy. From airport pick up to departure. Many great restaraunts and bars to walk to up and down the beach but the food prepared by onsite staff (so nice) was so good we mosty opted to stay near the house. Almost empty beach right outside – I so miss falling asleep and waking to the sound of the ocean. I travel a lot and and I can be very critical but I really do not have anything but good to say about Behla or Tulum beach!”

“If this house is available, rent it. It sits on one of the most beautiful beaches I
have ever seen, and the house itself is roomy, with comfortable places to sit.
And of course the view… We had excellent meals cooked for us in the house a
few days, and otherwise walked the beach to some nice restaurants. We will
definitely go back.”
